or a blood sample? You've heard the rumors, everything from DNA signatures to biometrics. Here's the real story:
The process is a simple one. You decide what type of admission suits your need- one day, multiday, whatever. Once your choice is made, the information is encoded on a special magnetic strip on the back of a very colorful (and collectible) ticket.
To fully utilize the new tickets, electronic turnstiles have been installed at the theme park and Pleasure Island entrances. When you arrive at the turnstiles, whether at a theme park or gated attraction, you simply insert your pass into a slot on the front of the turnstile. These new turnstiles read the encoded data, validates the admission, unlocks the turnstile and returns the ticket to you within seconds.
One of the advantages of this system is that it provides a great deal of flexibility. With the former ticket system a great deal of time and preparation was required, in the case of special parties or events, for ticket design, printing and distribution. With, the event information needs only to be entered into the computer system, adding it to the list of ticket options available at all WDW ticket locations.
It is also being incorporated into the resort ID system. Newly redesigned resort ID cards will incorporate the ticketing options selected by the Guest encoded on the existing magnetic strip.
